In this episode, I talk about thee pieces of my favorite recording equipment and how I use them in my recording studio.

I’m not usually one to talk about gear, and I think that the focus of your recording studio should always be on the music and creative process. However, having a few aces up your sleeve doesn’t hurt either, and these three items of my studios are some of my best kept secrets.

A Little About My Recording and Mixing Process

My recording process with musicians is one that is very hands on. I like to use a lot of reamping of guitar when I do guitar recording. I also like to do a lot of hands on effects when I mix a project, rather than use a lot of built in plug ins for presets for sounds. I like to create and recording sounds that are unique to me, and the bands that I record. So these three items are really tailored to play to my strengths and my style of recording.

Recording Studio’s Gear

I think that these three pieces of gear do more for my studio, than 98% of the rest of my equipment. Part of the reason, is that each of these items can make a huge difference in the sounds that I’m recording in the studio, and the end result that I am able to get when I’m mixing.

Do you have a favorite piece of recording gear that you like to use? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
