This is not any different from someone wispering in your ear, verses yelling from accross the room. If someone yells, it’s most likely because they have to talk a greater distance, and it’s natural to hear the room the sound is reflecting in. If someone whispers, then they are close and intimate. So the question is, “Does it make sense to record certain ‘loud’ sounds at an inch away?”.
